My Baby Is Mean to Me!

Do you think you’re mean to you? How do you know if your baby is mean to you?

Well, there are signs to look out for to know if your baby isn’t very fond of you. Now, that doesn’t mean that your baby hates you or that your baby doesn’t love you. In the eyes of a baby, you mean the world to them.

Think long and hard about that statement. You are the only one that takes care of him. You feed them, bathe them, and clothe them. Without you, your baby couldn’t survive. In the wild, a baby wouldn’t survive without its mother.

So do not be discouraged if you’re getting signs that your baby is purposely mean to you.

All this means is that you probably have to change some of the things that you are doing.

Once you do that, then you may see a change in your baby’s behavior towards you. It is wise always to take note of what your baby likes and what your baby dislikes because that could be the main reason why your baby isn’t happy.

If your baby isn’t happy, then, of course, they’re not going to express happiness. Instead, they are going to cry and scream.

You might equate the crying and the screaming to them being mean to you when in all actuality, they’re just frustrated.

Always keep in mind that attachment is a process.

Do Not Ignore Them

The one thing you are not supposed to do as a mother is ignoring your child. Ignoring your child will only cause more harm to your relationship with your baby.

It also leads to mistrust. And you don’t ever want your baby not to trust you. You mean everything to your baby, and if they cannot trust you, how are they suppose to thrive?

You also have to keep in mind that a companionship relationship is very important to babies. Why? Because what is learned early in life will be applied to relationships that come after you. That is why your baby needs all the love it can get in the beginning.

That starts with you meeting their needs to the best of your ability.

Don’t Let Them Cry

Parents have to understand that raising a baby can be stressful.

But, just because it’s a stressful time doesn’t mean you have to ignore the signs when your baby is telling you that their hungry or they need their diaper changed. Some parents get so frustrated that when the baby starts to cry, they let them cry.

This is absolutely the worst mistake they can make.

Just imagine yourself being in pain and asking for help and being ignored.

Sometimes you have to put yourself in your baby shoes and understand that whatever stressful feelings you’re going through, you have to put them aside and take care of your baby.

Don’t Ever Leave Them Alone.

For you to build a positive connection with your baby, you have to spend time with your baby.

You cannot leave your baby alone for hours on end and think you’re going to form a connection with them. Babies are built to be physically and emotionally connected to their caregivers.

Think about it like this: imagine being left alone and not being able to move or take care of yourself.

I’m sure you would feel terrified. So imagine how a baby feels.

Humans are social creatures. We tend to forget that sometimes. We are not meant to be alone. And children rely on us to take of their needs until they can do it on their own.

Punishing Your Baby

Your baby might misbehave at times, but that doesn’t mean you have to punish your baby either.

Most parents spank their children, and sometimes that’s not always the best thing because punishments can have some damaging effects.

Everyone has there own way of parenting, but there are also other ways of handling the situation. You can take less aggressive tactics and still see good results.

Below are some damaging effects of punishment:

  • The baby might have less trust in the caregiver.
  • The baby might have less trust in themself because they might think everything they do is wrong.
  • If caregivers punish babies for exploring, they might not have any motivation to learn in the future.
  • Misbehavior increases after spanking
  • Physical punishment can activate stress responses.

If you want your baby to have a bright future, don’t do these five things.

Remember, you always want to make sure your baby’s brain, health, and wellbeing are in good standing.

Ask For Help

It takes a village to raise a baby. And it takes a lot of effort and time to get your baby off to a good start.

Being a mother is not an easy task. With the right guidance and patience, you could become a great mother. But you have to pay attention and be aware of your baby’s needs.

And if things are too stressful and you feel like you need help, then it’s okay to ask for it.

Whether you ask for help from a caregiver or a family member, there’s no good or bad way.

But what’s important is that you lower your expectations for your personal goals. Because taking care of your baby is a full-time job, and you are going to need to surrender to all of their needs at some point.


Understanding your baby’s needs is very important. Frustration and stressful times cannot be an excuse for you not to take care of your baby.

Remember, when you love your baby, your baby loves you back. You have to understand that.

Don’t mistake your baby’s behavior with something else entirely because every child is different. When you grow to understand the specifics of what your child needs from you as a mother, that is when you’ll start to see a change.

But until then, nothing is going to get resolved.

Motherhood comes with sacrifice, and sometimes you have to make certain sacrifices to make sure that your baby’s happiness is where it needs to be.

Trust and believe that warm and positive parenting is one of the best predictors of a positive outcome.

One of the many gifts of motherhood is knowing that you cannot be perfect at it no matter how hard you try.
